Section 2: Volunteering Role

Glasgow 2018 is looking for enthusiastic people who are passionate about sport, culture, Glasgow and Scotland.

While we cannot guarantee any particular role or venue at this stage, we would like to place you in a role that you will enjoy. Please note there are a limited number of opportunities for certain roles.

Accreditation Centres

Some Accreditation Centre Volunteers will be required from 1 July 2018 to support the distribution of uniforms and accreditation. All roles will be based in accreditation centres across Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth and Kinross, North Lanarkshire, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.


Cultural Programme

Cultural Programme volunteering roles will be based at cultural sites in and around Glasgow City Centre. Roles may be indoors or outdoors and will include artist liaison, performance support, arts workshop support and providing spectators with information and wayfinding.


Events & Hospitality

Volunteering with the Glasgow 2018 Events and Hospitality Teams will involve supporting various events, helping to make sure everything runs smoothly. Roles will be based across all areas of the Championships.


Media Operations

Media Operations volunteering roles will include supporting News Services and Media, Photo and Broadcast Assistants. Roles will be based across all areas of the Championships.


Protocol

Protocol volunteering roles will involve welcoming and hosting the Championships Family during Glasgow 2018 receptions and events. Roles will be based across all areas of the Championships.


Spectator Services

Spectator Services volunteers will be our warm welcome, provide information and generally be a friendly face for spectators during the Championships at a number of locations.


Sport Services

Sports volunteering roles are varied and require a range of skills, experience and physical ability. Whilst we will do our best to assign roles to particular preferences, please be aware that there are a limited number of sport volunteer roles available.

Technology

Technology volunteering roles are perfect for anyone who has a keen eye for detail and is comfortable working with computers and data entry. Roles will be based across all areas of the Championships.


Transport

Transport volunteering roles will include Supervisors, Transport Attendants and Drivers. You must have a valid, clean driver’s licence to apply to be a Driver and be 25 years or over and have three years’ experience of driving.


Travel & Accommodation

Be the warm welcome to Scotland for athletes and officials. Based at Glasgow International Airport, Edinburgh International Airport, Accommodation hubs across Glasgow, Edinburgh, North Lanarkshire and Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.

Criminal Convictions

Having a criminal record doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t volunteer with us. We’ll take into account the volunteer role you will be allocated after interview, the circumstances and background of the offences and any other relevant information.

You do not need to declare convictions which are “spent” under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

Section 5: Supporting you to take part

We are committed to ensuring that everybody has equal access to the Glasgow 2018 Volunteer Programme and supporting a diverse range of participants. This is your chance to tell us how we can assist you. We've provided some examples below, but these don't cover everything, so let us know about anything that would help you to take part. We will confidentially discuss any support needs with you.
