What’s happening at Festival 2018 on Thursday 9 August

Head along to GO LIVE! at the Green for your last chance to see the Pop-up Opera Roadshow, as two brilliant 25-minute shows, brought to life by a storyteller, singers, musicians and illustrations, introduce you to opera. Shows start at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.

Over at George Square, Scotland’s biggest multi-cultural festival, Glasgow Mela, presents a packed programme that fuses music and dance from across the world. Don't miss the fun, starting at 3pm.

The venue will be buzzing from start to finish as there's a packed schedule of music and entertainment from acts including Beats Per Minute, Pivot Treenava and Circus Raj, while Oshun and The Gold - A New Anasi Tale showcases a playful dance production developed with young people from across Glasgow.

On from 10am-6pm, Glasgow Pixillated is also one not to be missed. Check out the Square's big screen for this dynamic film featuring young performers against a backdrop of iconic Glasgow locations

Head along to Shuttle Street to get involved in the Greyfriars Garden Open Day from 12pm. Located in the Medieval City, step into this magical space, see the variety of flowers and vegetables grown by local gardeners and lose yourself in the wildflower meadow.

Also beginning at noon, get creative and take part in Get Snapping! - the photo competition and exhibition. Bring your favourite Merchant City Festival photo to Bazaar Bar, City Halls for it to be printed and put on display. 

Go to Trongate 103 and enjoy A Selection of Short Films from 6pm. In celebration of the Championships, you are invited to enjoy a free GMAC Film and Scottish Documentary Institute screening of a programme of sports-themed short films.
